Homeworks are just like schoolworks except it is done outside the school or in home. It is given on a regular basis that we expect to be given after every class but still hopes that none will be given. This is highly disagreed by the students and some say that this is because of our laziness. But the real question is; Have we no enough time on school to be given homeworks?
Considering the fact that I’m in a school with whole day classes, I think homeworks should not be given regularly to students. I, a student of a special curriculum, have 9 hours and 15 minutes of class every day with a schedule of 7:30 until 11:45 and 12:30 until 5:30. This is tiring, yes, but we are expected to do more than that. With the major subjects; Calculus, Advance Chemistry, Research II, Advance Physics and English, how could we attain all requirements on these subjects at the same time when these requirements were given the same day? I think the number of hours we should be spending on learning a day is only 8 hours, giving the students the chance to rest and still have a life. If the office workers demand for an overtime pay, why don’t we, students, have one? 1 hour and 15 minutes exceeding class hours should be enough to take a nap before doing all the projects and etc. on home. Why do they provoke us this right? Homeworks will be just another burden for us, teachers should also think that we have our responsibilities on our home. Our parents will sometimes scold us for not doing our chores because we are always getting home late, earliest is 6 p.m. because we still have to “clean” our assigned places on school, and when coming home there is a bunch of homeworks to do. Sometimes, teachers should just be sensitive to what students may feel (they also experienced how to be a student). They should consider the fact that we have 10 more other subjects to deal with. THEY SHOULD JUST AGREE WHO AND WHEN SOMEONE WILL GIVE A HOMEWORK so that it will not be given on the same time.
I understand that homework is a must but we should also have freedom of our own. If only teachers would know what it feels like to have no assignment even for just one day, they would know it’s heart enlightening. Like what the hell, 10 subjects in 9 hours and 15 minutes is too much for a student to absorb information. And now they wonder why some of the students do their homeworks on school and not have their full attention on class. But I also think that they’re doing this for our own good. Or they want us to spend half our life doing school and homeworks and studying.
P.S. No hate, this is just a student's opinion
